Scary Surprise!

Great day at clinic, but I will tell you about my scary surprise first. I was so shocked to find a fun pair of scarecrows sitting guard when I got home. Who did it? No clue.

But then I figured it out. It had to have been someone who was here recently and saw my sad empty planters. Someone close. Someone Southern and sweet.  Thank you, Jennifer!

I also received Disk 2 from the Byrds. Another mix of happy songs. Thank you. It makes the 2 hour round trip drive to the hospital or clinic go by quicker.

And then there are the gifts that keep giving. I am actually scared to open this gift. Long story short, paybacks are a b!+€#.

Chas and Bill sent a lovely gift drenched in glitter. I braved the card and read it. Lovely. Thank you. Did you know glitter multiplies? I just haven't worked up the courage to unwrap the rest. When I say "drenched in glitter," I mean it. I was laughing so hard. I could just hear Rebecca yelling at Bill, "That's enough! Oh no! Don't!" But it was too late, their daughter's crafting supplies were raided and I am now in possession of the best collection of sparkles the world has ever seen. Makes me happy.

Clinic news was huge today. First of all it only took 2 hours. I got good numbers and have 3 days off in a row.  IN A ROW! I slipped down on the white blood cell counts, and am now slightly neutropenic. They say fluctuations are normal. I am still disappointed they aren't perfect. Oh well.

Biggest news is that my PICC line was removed today. Wow! I was not expecting that. I am not getting any more chemo for a couple of weeks, and am not expected to need fluids, blood, or plateletes. Yay! It probably is a good thing they didn't tell me today was the day. I would have been scared. Removal was no big deal. They just tied one end to a door knob and slammed the door. (Dave's joke!)

Removing the line removes the chance of infection since I won't have any openings in the skin. It also means I can take a NORMAL shower. No more giant plastic arm sleeve. Happy dance!  I can also properly throw a frisbee for Dexter.

I do get another line October 10th. This will be a central catheter in the chest for chemo and the stem cell transplant.

So what a great big day. Lots and lots of happiness. Tomorrow will be another crafty day! Did I mention I have 3 days off?
