Day 14 in captivity. I have been doing well not counting days or thinking of how long it has been since I have been home. But.. This kind of feels like half way done. How exciting is that?
The lumbar puncture was no big deal. The lidocaine was the worst part, as usual. "It's like a bee sting" yah. From hell!
I got a ride down in a wheel chair, then back up on a stretcher.
Woo.
Hoo.
I had to be flat for only 2 hours. Not so bad.
Side effects: boredom. No walking today. Must take it easy. I will comply, but not real happy about it. (I admit I am a baby.) Tomorrow they want me to ease back into it. So, what? 1.5 miles?
So they took 6cc of fluid and gave me 6 cc of chemo. I am to continue to drink heavily. I am back on iv fluids to help too. Dang. More strings.
Both docs are happy with my progress. So I am happy.
The next iv chemo will be on the 10th, and then another lumbar puncture on the 14th.
Big changes I noticed today: flat belly. When I had the first noticed the "unexplained weight loss" it was strange my belly was swollen. That turned out to be enlarged, leukemia riddled kidneys. So now I believe the nephrologist when she says she is happy with the kidney progress (1.4). I have no swelling in my legs and feet.
I am still waiting for the next milestone: hair loss. They said it will take a couple of weeks. Yup. Waiting. I am thinking the sooner it comes out, the quicker it will seem like we are on the road to remission. And the road home. HOME. And I am happy to be here getting the best care possible.
Platelet donations graciously accepted!
I had to get another bag this morning to be sure I didn't bleed out during the procedure. That would be bad.
Call for an appointment. Plan on 2 hours.
There are several screening restrictions including not having traveled outside the US (especially to Africa - duh...) so make sure you are not driving for no reason.
