Not So Fast

Not much sleep.  Just one of those steroid nights with lots of staff visiting early morning.

My midnight labs came back. My platelets were 12. Anything below 20 I have to get an infusion. So I did at 0430. Bummer. I was holding so well for so many days. It's just one of those things. I will need more platelets tomorrow morning (0430) before my spinal tap.  It has to be above 50.

On to the kidney function. I was normal, finally, at 1.1 just yesterday. At midnight my cre was up to 1.4.  Another disappointment. At 6 am it showed 1.3.  The kidney doctor said it is because we are asking so much of them to fight the killed cells and crap running through my system. He wants me to continue to push liquids. HOW could I possibly drink any more?? I will somehow or get hooked back to iv fluids again. When I checked in to the hospital, my number was 2.4, so we are no where near that. It was a tiny tiny increase.

So when I hit Rock Bottom on July 8, my body stopped producing platelets and all blood cells (the good, the bad, and the ugly ones) so fluxuations are to be expected.  The doc said it will take a minimum of 14 days to begin producing again. That's what to expect.

It's just disappointing because I am really ready to go home!

Not so fast.

My reality check today is to focus on the day to day. I will go home when I go home - not a moment before.

Time to give myself a break.  I can't control what my body is doing, so we have medical specialists to do that for me. It's time for a little less type A+ personality to mover over. It's spa day complete with fuzzy socks, scented lotion, and Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul.

Tomorrow will be mandatory bed rest. No walking at all. That just might be what I need to slow down.

Kent really had fun with the photo booth.
